What's Available at The Community Office?
The office is run for the people by the people. We are always glad to add new members to our team of volunteers.
There is a welcome here for everyone - we do all we can to provide the help and information you need.
The Community Office is located above the Tourist Information Centre, access is from Joss Lane Car Park. Tell us what services you would like to see in Sedbergh and we shall try to provide them.
Opening hours:
| Monday to Wednesday | 10:00am to 4:00pm. |
| Thursday | 10:00am to 1:00pm. |
| Friday | 10:00am to 4:00pm. |
| Saturday & Sunday | Closed. |
Facilities at the office include:
| Disabled access | There is easy wheelchair access from the car park is via a ramp. |
| Planning Surgery | A representative from YDNP Planning Department is available on Wednesday afternoons to answer your questions concerning planning matters. |
| CVS | South Lakeland Council for Voluntary Services are in the Community Office on the first Wednesday of each month between 10:00am and 12:00 noon. |
| Car Park Permits | Parking permits for YDNP car parks are available every day. |
| Community Advice | Every day. |
| NOW cards | Application forms for concessionary travel passes for over 60's and disabled persons are available from the office every day. |
| Art Drop-in Club | If you are interested in art please call in on Monday afternoons. |
| Art exhibition | We have a permanent exhibition of work by local artists on display. |
| Books sales & exchange | Every day. |
| History Society | The archive room of the Sedbergh & District History Society contains a large collection of information for anyone interested in the history of the area or researching local family history. |
| Fair Trade Goods | A selection of fair trade goods is on sale every day in aid of the Settlebeck Learning Resource Centre. |
| Outreach project | On Thursday afternoons a group of students from Sedbergh School visit people who are housebound, or would just like some company, to share stories, have a cuppa, do some baking, watch films, chat, play games etc. The students have used desktop publishing software to produce an advertisement for the outreach project and are planning to make a video about Sedbergh lives. |
| Computer & Internet Access | A computer with internet access is available for emails, web browsing, wordprocessing etc. |
| Website updates | Drop in any day if you have any suggestions for updates or additions to the Sedbergh website. |
| Parish clerk | The clerk to the Sedbergh Parish Council is in attendance on Wednesday mornings if you wish to discuss any parish council matters. |
| YDNP Park Ranger | Discuss YDNP issues with the Park Ranger. Dates and times are variable, check with the Community Office for more details. |
| Recorder Group | Tuesday lunchtime. |
| Age Concern | Advice and help for the over 50's on Wednesday mornings. |
| Homeopathy | An affordable service for a holistic consultation with a qualified homeopath on Wednesday mornings. |
| Community Fund | The Sedbergh & District Community Fund is a registered charity which exists to help in obtaining funding for any projects concerned with improving health, alleviating distress or promoting environmental well being. |
| Notice Board | We have a notice board with local job vacancies, community notices, goods & services to buy, sell or exchange. |
| Baby changing facilities | |
| Meeting Room facilities | The largest room in the Community Office is available for use for courses, meetings, training etc. For more information, contact the Community Office. |
| Social Security information | We have a wide range of information and applications forms for most Social Security matters. For more information call in to the Community Office. |
| Battery recycling | Please drop off your used disposable batteries for recycling and we will keep them out of landfill. |
