Stonetrail Holidays

Stonetrail Holidays offer luxury self catering holidays for cyclists, walkers and horse and riders. Based at Street Farm, a historic 16th century former farm in a spectacular setting at the foot of Wild Boar Fell, midway between Sedbergh and Kirkby Stephen.

The accommodation consists of two apartments, one sleeping 2, the other sleeping up to 4. Offering a high standard of comfort, they have been newly converted from a range of stone barns employing traditional building methods to retain the historic and architectural value of the building. The interiors have been finished with open trusses and exposed stonework which complement the oak floors, wood burning stoves and power showers. The furnishings are simple and stylish with comfy beds and crisp white linen.

There is a Map Room with inhouse GPS software where guests can browse routes and download or print maps.

Two further lodges, one sleeping up to 4 and the other up to 8, are planned to open in 2009.

Westby House Cottage

Westby House Cottage

Westby House Cottage is situated on the outskirts of Sedbergh, and a footpath extends the half mile into the town.

The single storey, stone built, semi-detached cottage is approached by a 150 yard private road and commands an elevated position within a beautiful garden at the foot of the Howgill Fells. It faces southwest and has a panoramic view of the Lune Valley from the patio at the front.

It has its own entrance and parking space for two/three cars at the rear.

All accommodation is on a single level and comprises of a lounge; entrance hall area with dining area; bathroom with 'over bath' shower, shaving point and immersion heater; two bedrooms with double (4'6") beds; kitchen; shared utility room with laundry facilities and freezer space. Sheets and towels can be supplied at extra cost. Mobile phones operate at this location.

The property is well insulated, is heated by storage heaters with an afternoon boost and has fitted carpets throughout.

The glazed front leads out to the patio equipped with garden furniture. The garden area is usually available for lawn games such as putting, tennis and bowls.

Ghyll Stile Mill Cottage

Overlooking a cascading stream, this 17th century watermill conversion nestles in a sheltered hollow at the foot of the Howgill Fells. This detached stone cottage lies close to the owners' home and provides very comfortable, warm and well cared-for accommodation. You can see many types of bird that visit the grounds and surrounding fells. Paved pathways lead alongside the tumbling waters to private grassed arbours and patios, where a quiet evening drink or barbecue may be enjoyed.

Under Rigg

UnderRigg is beautifully placed in Millthrop, a pretty hamlet attached to Sedbergh in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. We are not many miles from the Lake District National Park either, so you could say we're spoilt for choice!

The cottage has a very peaceful setting with open views over the fells, to front and rear. It is warm and cosy, and furnished as a comfortable and well-equipped home with the advantage of two lounge rooms designed to give greater flexibility to guests. It accommodates, at most, two couples and one single.

Valley View & The Granary

Two adjoining barn conversion cottages on a 15-acre smallholding located 3 miles from Sedbergh in a quiet elevated position with magnificent views over the Lune valley, Winder and the Howgill Fells. The cottages are on the intersection of two footpaths giving immediate access to an extensive footpath network.

Dent also boasts craft shops, galleries and its own heritage centre where you can step back in time.An ideal base for your holiday in the Dales. Recently refurbished to a high standard Dragon Cottage sleeps up to six. Gibbs Hall Barn

Two miles from Dent, Gibbs Hall Barn is a three-bedroom centrally heated barn conversion with character features throughout, including exposed timber lintels and beamed ceilings. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, two bathrooms and a pretty garden with patio and lawn. The lounge is open to the full height of the barn, and includes an open fireplace. Parking is available for three cars. The cottage sleeps up to six; two well-behaved dogs are welcome. ETC 4-star rated.

Ing Hill Lodge

Three spacious 2 person barn apartmentss set in 2½ acres including a large field. Dogs are accepted in ground floor apartments for a small fee and subject to some simple rules and they may be run off the lead in the field.

Stouphill Gate is a traditional old Cumbrian farmstead, and the holiday accommodation has been formed from the older parts of the property retaining much of the original character whilst benefiting from all of the modern conveniences.

Guests can be assured of a warm friendly welcome,and will be greeted with homemade cake and complimentary tea/coffee to brew themselves. The fridge will be on and there will be hot water in the tank. In the winter there will also be a warm fire awaiting in the cottage. Being adjacent to the holiday accommodation the owners are happy to offer help and suggestions to all visitors during their stay and are flexible over arrivals, even if you don't know what time that will be!

Larger parties can also be catered for by renting one, or both, of the adjacent bed and breakfast rooms, one of which is fully equipped for disabled access.

Thwaite Cottage

Thwaite Farm, a working farm with beef cattle and sheep, is located alongside the River Lune near the small hamlet of Howgill, about three miles from Sedbergh.

The Cottage adjoins the end of the farmhouse and enjoys panoramic views of the Howgill Fells.

Far End Farm

Far End Farm is set in the high, narrow valley of Garsdale in the Yorkshire Dales, with views of the stunning Settle-Carlisle Railway, this is an ideal base to explore the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District National Park. Recently restored and renovated, it combines a wealth of original features with all the comforts of a modern home, in which we are able to provide Self-catering accommodation (suitable for 2 to 12)Easter, July-August and December-January (Fri-Fri). Early booking advised for Christmas & New Year weeks.

Children, pets, cyclists and walkers welcome.

On the Cumbrian Cycleway, with the Pennine Way and Pennine Bridleway close by, makes Far End Farm an ideal starting point for fell-walking, bird-watching, cycling and horse-riding etc. Garsdale Station, just a few minutes walk away, gives an opportunity to travel on England 's highest and most scenic railway.

Ash Hining Farm

Ash Hining Farm, built around 1600, offers panoramic views of the Lune Valley, Dentdale and the Howgill Fells. The farmhouse itself can accommodate up to eight people in four ensuite bedrooms.

In addition to the main farmhouse there are also two self-catering cottages, Dales View (sleeping 4) and Whernside View (sleeping 2); both fully fitted and furnished with modern appliances throughout.

Tarn Outdoor Centre

Self catering group accommodation in superb barn conversion. Magnificently situated in the Howgill Fells with great views all round. Flexible dormitories/bedrooms, lounge, kitchen, dining area, washrooms and drying room. Outside there is acres of space with a games field, campfire area, bbq.

The centre is let out to one group so the group has sole use of the whole centre. There is accommodation for groups of up to 24 people. Groups with higher numbers can be accommodated for by adding some camping in the grounds of the centre.
